When You Don’t Love Facebook — But Still Love People
Not everyone enjoys Facebook. In fact, many people feel a quiet tension every time they log in — the noise, the opinions, the arguments, the endless scroll of comparison and distraction. And if you’ve ever felt that way, you’re not alone. I’ve felt it too.
The truth is simple: you don’t have to like Facebook to care about the people who use it.
Social media has become one of the largest public squares in our generation. It’s where people gather, share, vent, celebrate, and sometimes fall apart. And even if the platform itself doesn’t appeal to us, the people on it still matter deeply to God — and therefore, they matter to us.
I don’t use Facebook because I enjoy the chaos of it. I use it because it gives me a doorway into hearts I might never reach otherwise.
I don’t show up there for entertainment. I show up because someone scrolling late at night might need a word of hope.
I don’t post because I love the platform. I am posting because I love people.
Social media is not my comfort zone, and it’s certainly not my identity. But it is a place where encouragement can land in the middle of someone’s discouragement. It’s a place where Scripture can interrupt anxiety. It’s a place where truth can cut through confusion.
If you feel uneasy about Facebook, that’s okay. Discernment is not a weakness — it’s a gift. But even in that discomfort, God can still use your voice, your presence, and your faithfulness to shine light in a digital world that desperately needs it.
My commitment is simple: I will not let my dislike of a platform keep me from loving the people on it.
May every post shared here continue to bring peace, clarity, and Christ-centered encouragement — even in places we don’t particularly enjoy. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” — John 1:5 (NKJV).
