The Evilness in the World of Social Media
Social media is one of the most powerful tools of our age. It can connect families across miles, spread encouragement in seconds, and give a platform for truth to be heard. Yet, it is also one of the most dangerous spaces we inhabit. Behind the endless scrolling and constant notifications lies a battlefield for the soul. Pride, envy, anger, slander, and deception thrive here, often disguised as entertainment or “honest opinion.” What was meant to connect us often divides us. What was meant to encourage often discourages. What was meant to shine light often spreads shadows.
The Bible warns us of this reality. Paul wrote, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers…” (2 Timothy 3:1-2, King James Version). If ever there was a description of the spirit that dominates much of social media, this is it. Platforms that could be used for good are too often filled with self-promotion, comparison, and hostility.
I have experienced this personally. As I share reflections through The Christian Thing and post encouragements here on Facebook, I am reminded daily that the same platform that carries truth can also carry lies. The same space that can build up can also tear down. I have felt the sting of false accusations, the weight of misunderstanding, and the temptation to respond in frustration. Yet the Lord continually reminds me that my calling is not to mirror the world’s anger but to reflect Christ’s light.
Jesus Himself warned, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10, KJV). Social media, when twisted by the enemy, becomes a tool of theft—stealing joy, peace, and unity. But when surrendered to Christ, it can become a channel of abundant life, carrying words of hope, encouragement, and truth.
That is why I remain here. Not to chase likes or defend myself in anger, but to bear witness to Christ in a place where darkness often masquerades as light. Paul exhorts us, “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21, KJV). This is my commitment: to use this space not for bitterness, but for blessing. Not for division, but for discipleship. Not for self-promotion, but for the glory of God.
So, when you see #lesallan on Facebook, know this: it is not about me. It is about pointing beyond myself to the One who is the Light of the world (John 8:12, KJV). My prayer is that every word I write here will serve as a reminder that even amid the noise, Christ still speaks—and His voice is the one worth following.

This document is a faith-rooted reflection by Lesallan on the dangers and dual nature of social media, emphasizing how it can both connect and divide people through pride, envy, and deception. It shares personal experiences of facing false accusations and misunderstandings, while committing to use social media as a platform for peace, truth, and encouragement in alignment with Christian values, aiming to glorify God rather than self-promotion or bitterness.
“The measure of a life is not found in the noise of its achievements, but in the quiet alignment of the soul with truth. To live well is not merely to exist, but to exist meaningfully — where conviction and conscience walk hand in hand.” ~Les Allan
