For the sister I love, as you walk through cancer with courage and faith

A Mother’s Day Devotional for My Sister

For the sister I love, as you walk through cancer with courage and faith

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34:18

Mother’s Day can hold many emotions at once—gratitude, tenderness, sorrow, hope, and love. Today, I thank God especially for you, my sister. Your journey has not been easy, and yet through every appointment, every hard day, and every unanswered question, I have seen your strength shine in quiet and beautiful ways.

When pain feels heavy and the future feels uncertain, God does not step away. He draws near. He is present in the waiting room, present in the long nights, present in the tears, and present in every small mercy that carries you through the day. You do not have to be fearless to be faithful. You only have to keep placing your hand in His, trusting that His strength will meet you one moment at a time.

This illness is part of your story, but it is not your whole identity. You are still beloved, precious, and deeply held by God. On this Mother’s Day, I pray that you feel more than the ache of what is hard—I pray that you feel the comfort of being seen, the peace of being loved, and the hope that Christ gently breathes into weary hearts.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10

Prayer

Lord, thank You for my sister and for the gift she is to our family. Wrap her in Your peace on the days when she feels weak, afraid, or exhausted. Strengthen her body, calm her mind, and steady her heart. Give wisdom to those caring for her, courage for each new day, and reminders of Your love that are impossible to miss. Let her feel carried, even when she is too tired to stand. In every step of this journey, be her refuge, her healer, and her hope. Amen.

Happy Mother’s Day, dear sister. You are loved more deeply than words can say.

Love,

Lesallan
