Scripture: “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24 (KJV)
Devotion:
Every sunrise is a reminder that God is still at work. The psalmist’s declaration in Psalm 118:24 is not just poetic—it is a call to intentional living. The Lord handcrafts each day, filled with opportunities to rejoice, worship, and walk in His presence.
Rejoicing does not mean ignoring hardship. It means choosing to see God’s goodness even in the midst of uncertainty. Gladness is not rooted in circumstance but in the unchanging character of God. When we wake up and declare, “This is the day the Lord has made,” we align our hearts with His sovereignty and invite joy into our steps.
On this Saturday, let us pause and remember that today is not random. It is divinely purposed. Whether we are resting, working, or preparing for worship tomorrow, we can rejoice because God is with us.
Application:
- Begin the day with gratitude: name three blessings God has given you today.
- Reframe challenges as opportunities to trust God’s provision.
- Share joy with someone else—through encouragement, prayer, or a simple act of kindness.
Prayer:
“Lord, thank You for this day You have made. Teach me to rejoice in Your presence and to be glad in Your goodness. May my heart be anchored in gratitude and my steps guided by Your Spirit. Amen.”
✍️ Personal Reflection:
Today, as I sit with Psalm 118:24, I’m reminded that my journey is not defined by yesterday’s struggles or tomorrow’s uncertainties. This Saturday, December 6, is a gift from the Lord.
I think about the transitions I’m walking through: finishing my degree, seeking new housing, and discerning the next steps in ministry and vocation. It would be easy to let anxiety take over, but this verse calls me to rejoice. Not because everything is settled, but because God is faithful.
Rejoicing today means choosing peace over worry, gratitude over complaint, and hope over fear. It means remembering that Christ’s presence is enough to make this day worth celebrating. As I prepare for what lies ahead, I want to live missionally even in the ordinary—finding joy in prayer, in family moments, and in the small acts of faithfulness that shape tomorrow.
“This is the day the Lord has made.” That truth steadies me. It reminds me that my calling is not just about future plans but about showing up today with gladness, trusting that God is weaving all things together for His glory.
Grace and Peace,
