Devotional – God’s Calling and Promises

God has never called this student to do anything that has disrupted God’s plans, the plans that He has for each of our individual lives. Sometimes, God will throw in twists and turns as we journey through life. These curves in our paths only serve to strengthen us as individuals. A verse in the Bible written by the apostle Paul goes: “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Corinthians 12:9, KJV). This verse highlights that God’s power and grace shine through our weaknesses when we rely on Him. Our weaknesses provide an opportunity for God to display His strength and glory.

This student was called to attend this University and is still uncertain how this plan of God’s will work out. It is known that God has an ultimate plan for each of us and that, in the end, God will decide our fate and destiny as we journey through life. Are there any of us who know God’s ultimate plan for our lives? No, only our Father knows His plans for each of us. The Bible tells us: “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9, KJV).

Personally, this student does not have a “family” per se to care for; however, there are times when things get rough when it comes to making his way through our capitalistic society. Just as Abram faced uncertainty in his time, so do we face moments of fear and doubt. But we can learn from Abram’s example by trusting in God’s promises and always following Him, even when the future is unknown.

Blessings!
