Friday Morning Devotional — The Light of the World, John 8:12

Scripture
John 8:12 (KJV)Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Reflection
Morning arrives like a small resurrection: darkness gives way, the ordinary is made new. The promise in today’s verse is not only comfort but direction — following Christ is an invitation to move from confusion into clarity, from fear into steady purpose. On a Friday, that promise steadies the heart for endings and beginnings: the close of a workweek and the quiet possibility of rest, repair, and renewed attention to what matters most.

Short Prayer
Lord, meet me at the threshold of this day. Shine your light into the corners where I hide my doubts. Give me courage to follow where you lead, patience to finish well, and eyes to see the small mercies along the way. Amen.

Practical Application

  • Start small: Spend five minutes in silence or Scripture before your first task.
  • Name one priority: Choose one thing today that reflects your values and give it your best attention.
  • Offer one kindness: A brief note, a listening ear, or a simple help to someone else extends the light you’ve received.

Blessing
May the light you follow guide your steps today. May your work be purposeful, your rest restorative, and your heart open to the quiet ways God shows up. Go with peace.

Grace and Peace,
