Daily Devotion — December 12, 2025

This morning began with the ordinary rhythms that shape our days: waking early, a quiet cup of coffee, a short time with Scripture and prayer, a brisk walk to clear the head, and the steady stream of messages and tasks that call for attention. Those small acts—breathing in the cold air, pausing over a verse, answering an email—are not merely preludes to “real” work; they are the soil in which our daily faith takes root. In the stillness of the walk and the simplicity of a morning cup, God meets us and invites us to notice where we are carrying hurry, worry, or complacency.

Scripture focus: “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Let this be the lens through which you interpret the rest of the day: not as a race to accomplish more, but as a series of opportunities to respond to God’s presence in the small things.

Reflection:

  • Where did this morning reveal dependence or independence? The quiet moments showed a readiness to listen; the rush to respond to messages revealed places I still try to control outcomes.
  • What is God inviting me to do next? To choose one small, faithful practice—ten minutes of intentional silence before the first meeting, a short prayer before replying to each important email, or a single act of kindness for someone I’ll see today.

Practical steps for the day:

  • Pause twice: before the first major task and before lunch, take two deep breaths and offer a one-sentence prayer of surrender.
  • Keep a single word: pick one from your morning reading (for example, stillness, trust, presence) and let it shape your decisions and conversations today.
  • Measure by fruit, not speed: notice one relational or spiritual fruit at day’s end—an encouragement given, a moment of patience, a clearer sense of God’s peace.

Prayer:
Lord, in the ordinary pattern of this morning, you have already shown your care. Teach me to be still enough to know you, bold enough to follow where you lead, and gentle enough to let your presence shape my words and work. Please help me to live today by faith, not by frantic doing. Amen.

Blessings for the rest of your day,
