Devotion — Wednesday January 28, 2026

I view my academic honor as both a gift and a responsibility: a gift because it reflects God’s enabling grace, and a responsibility because excellence calls me to steward knowledge, character, and influence for God’s kingdom.

Scripture Anchor

Philippians 3:13–14 — Pressing forward toward the goal.
Colossians 3:23 — I will work heartily as for the Lord, not for men.
Proverbs 16:3 — I commit my work to the Lord and trust that my plans will be established.

Grace in the Journey
I remember the late nights of study, the mentors who encouraged me, the setbacks that taught me patience, and the breakthroughs that felt like God’s provision. Each step was shaped by God’s providence and by people He placed around me. Gratitude keeps my success humble.

Excellence as Worship
Pursuing truth, discipline, and integrity has been an act of worship. When I aim for excellence, I reflect God’s character to others and honor the gifts He has given me.

Purpose Beyond the Diploma
This honor opens doors, but my calling is to use those doors to serve others—to teach, to lead, and to love. I want my achievement to be a platform for compassion and faithful witness.

Prayer

Gracious Father, thank You for guiding me through this season and for the gift of wisdom and perseverance. Help me steward this honor with humility, pursue truth with courage, and serve others with the knowledge and character formed at Ohio Christian University. Give me clarity for next steps, courage to follow Your call, and a heart that honors You in every achievement. Amen.

My Practical Next Steps

  • Give thanks publicly — share a note or post that points others to God’s faithfulness.
  • Connect with mentors — seek counsel about vocation and next steps.
  • Serve intentionally — find one way this month to use my skills in a ministry, community, or workplace.
  • Keep learning — set one spiritual or professional growth goal for the next six months.

Benediction

May the God who began a good work in me bring it to completion; may my excellence be a light that points others to Christ and my life be a faithful testimony of His grace.

Grace and Peace,
